I want a simple, slide-sorter style menu - no fanciness

Hi Everyone.

Call me boring but I want a menu for my DVDs that is ultra simple.

I don't want music. I don't want cutesy pictures.

I'd like the DVD title at the top and a "slide sorter" type layout of thumbnails for the chapters. That type of menu doesn't seem to be a choice I can choose.

I cannot get the videostudio to do this. It keeps bringing back music, frills, etc.

How can I get this simple, thumbnail grid for my menus?

You can Make one from scratch!

Don't forget to share it with us though when you have finished.
:D

Thanks....

Thank you. The tutorial looks well made.

I am so busy I barely have time to breathe, so I doubt I'll be making this menu anytime soon. If anyone out there would like to make it for me, we can work out a deal and I'll pay you.

I think many people want to have as many thumbnails as possible on the main menu, not three of them and a "next page, next page" menu pagination hassle.

I just wish there was an "express lane" to grab video, delete waste clips, and push out to a disk with a simple slide-sorter menu. Macintosh iMovie has this capability, but I don't want to buy a Mac for this since I already have two powerful PCs.

best to all of you

You can customize just about any part of any of the supplied menus.

For instance, when you get to the menu selection window, from the Gallery drop-down choose Text Menus. Pick anyone of those. Now click on the Edit tab. The first choice is Background Music. Click on the clef (music) symbol and choose Delete the Music Track for this Menu. There you go, no menu music. You want it simple, so uncheck Motion Menu. Go down to Background Image/Video. Click on the button to select a background. It can be any image that you have saved on your computer. I usually use a frame from my project. So there you go, no cutesy picture.

I'm not sure what you mean by "slide sorter" type layout, but by using the Layout Settings, Advanced Settings, Font Settings, Customize buttons, and by right clicking on any object in the preview window and "hiding" it, you can make any stock menu look like your own.

If I had 12 chapters in my video, there is no reason I couldn't do a 3 row x 4 column grid of chapter thumbnails - or am I missing something?

I cannot see any way to do that using the built-in modification tools.

No, one thing you can't modify is the number of thumbnails per page.

12 Thumbnail Menu let me know if the link is dead and I will see if I still have a copy when I get home.

Scott may just be seeing the image from the post, as the Driveway link is definitely dead.

Many thanks for that Steve. For users of VS12 the ZIP file needs to be put extracted to the folder:
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio 12\Content\Menu Template\16x9\Scene Button
