Log In troubles

Post by weaver »

Since several month I have troubles to log-in into forum.

Usually I need to repeat the log-in procedure at least twice (sometimes more), and sometimes I am blocked for 15 minutes because of too many attempts.

I asked many times for a new password and also changed my passwords several times but nothing happend. The windows remembers my password, so I do not need to reenter it (no type error) - the forum just does not accept my PW.

Is there any help...?

Thank you.

I've never run into those issues myself, but have asked the site admins to take a peek at your issue.

They may need some additional clues, like which web browser you use, security software (like ZoneAlarm, Norton, etc.) and other "tricks and tweaks" (using a proxy, etc.) you may have in place. You do need to have cookies enabled for this site to log in, that much I know.

Have you changed your email address? If it is different than the one used upon initial registration with the forums, you will not be getting the automatic email when you click on the Forgot Your Password link.

I'm not going to publish your email address, however if it is different send an email to Steve, Ken or I. You can also just go to your Profile and change your email address..

Hi

no, I did not change my e-mail and I have got in the last week a new password. I use now this password. But the log-in procedure is troublesome.
I enter my user name and the PW (instruct W to remember this) than I click on enter (submit) and the first attempt usually fails, the second one mostly works, only in some cases I have to repeat this several times. Sometimes the system blocks me for 15 minutes. After this the situation is the same as before.

Thank you for your help

Of course to the new one

and I think my problems started with the new address (and it is only on this forum, on the German forum I have no such problems at all)

There is nothing obviously wrong on your registration page.
Are you using Internet Explorer (which version)
or Firefox or some other browser?

Hi

I am using IE V7.0 and for example today I have no problem with the registration (I am on hotel WIFI network in a very exotic country). At home the situation is unfortunately worse (or meanwhile for some reason the log-in works better)

It might be a problem with your internet connection at home.
I only recently managed to fix a similar problem after 6 months of investigations. My wife kept losing the "Chat" on her online Bingo even though the Bingo itself continued to work. It was only after I cured the problem that I realised I had been having other issues that I had been unaware of, such as uploading to Picasa where my upload would tend to be a stop/start affair an after each restart it would duplicate one of the pictures being uploaded. This all stopped once I had finally resolved the problem.

In my case it was an issue of firmware for the router. The routers control panel had an option to check for new firmware but every time I checked it the program said that my firmware was up to date. It was only after I stumbled across a User Forum for my router that I discovered some new firmware which I installed and lo and behold my problems were all fixed.

The clue you have given is that the log in is working at the Hotel but you had issues at home. If you have a laptop then try logging in at home, then using the same laptop go to a friends house and try logging in from there. This will help identify a router or service provider problem rather than your laptop. If you have difficulties at both locations then it is more likely to be a problem with the laptop.

All troubleshooting is a process iof elimination.

You are using Internet Explorer, to eliminate a possible issue with this browser, download and install Firefox - I have both installed on all of my computers and in fact at times use both at the same time. One example being with new user registrations on this Web Board. If I get an email from someone having problems joining then I often create a new account for them using internet explorer, whilst at the same time being logged in via Firefox so that I can then activate the new member.

Thank you very much.

I will investigate (perhaps I already found the reason   ), however I am very often on many different networks with several computers, so I do not think that my domestic network is the problem. I will see when at home.

I found out the the log-in screen - however is the same as this one, was still on the old ULEAD address and only when I logged in it changed to "forum.corel.com...". I did not recognized this as the content of the page was exactly the same.
I changed now the log in link also for the new one and will see.
