I recently purchased X3 as un upgrade from PI 12 because I wanted to use the RAW file function in X3 but I find that when I open a Canon RAW file (CR2) it opens but not with the "Open Camera RAW file dialog box" as mentioned in the HELP file which has the following text:
"To open RAW files, select File: Open and select the file you want to open. This will take you to the Open Camera RAW File dialog box."
Does anyone know how I can open the Open Camers RAW file dialog box?

Don't really know, I don't have a Canon, just a Kodak, and PI X3 does open the RAW files with that. Have you by chance installed the update patch for X3?

Thanks, but yes I have loaded the patch. I can open RAW files but the "Open Camera RAW file dialog box" does not open as described in the HELP file.

Ok so you can open them, what does it open to a TIFF, or JPEG? When I open a Kodak Raw file (KDC) it opens the Open Camera Raw File. The Raw files will not otherwise open.
There is a folder called ccf which is located (in WinXP) C:\Program Files\Corel\PhotoImpact X3. There should be 10 files located inside that folder. Those are the communication configuration files, for PI to communicate with the various Makes of cameras for importing their respective RAW files. Check to see if you have one called Canon.CCF. It may not be there, or may just be corrupted. To correct or fix it you will need to reinstall PI..

I checked for the canon ccf file and it is there, it's a 4kb file dated July 2007 as are all the other files.
I can open JPEGs and TIFFs without any problem. As mentioned I can also open the Canon CR2 RAW files and view them ok but it does not open in the Open Camera RAW file dialog box it opens just the same as a JPEG except that limited editing is available.

Canon CR2 raw files
Hi Paul,
Did you ever resolve the problem of not being able to open CCanon CR2 files. I have the same problem if I rename to RAW they will open for camera raw editing.
