VideoStudio Pro XS- will not launch

Post by olsonju »

Hi,
VideoStudio Pro XS- will not launch

I have had this program since December. The program will not consistently open. It used to take a long time to launch, but eventually would open up. To improve this problem, I researched and followed HP guidelines for "IMPROVING THE PERFORMANCE OF YOUR NOTEBOOK PC.". This helped for a while. More recently, the program stopped opening.

I have already read through similar problems posted on the forum. Prior to reading the forum I searched in the Corel database. I have followed; HOW TO MANUALLY REMOVE VIDEOSTUDIO X2, CLEAN REINSTALLATION,etc. etc. I really do not want to have to do a total restore to my laptop. I am hoping I can get some guidance from your informed readers. I found a blog about EXEMPTING A PROGRAM FROM D.E.P. I tried this and the program still won't open.

I WANT TO MENTION SOMETHING ELSE, AS I SAID THE PROGRAM DOES NOT OPEN. HOWEVER, WHEN I SHUT DOWN THE COMPUTER, A BOX APPEARS. END PROGRAM VIDEOSTUDIO.EXE. WHEN I PRESS, END NOW. A MESSAGE APPEARS THAT SAYS PROGRAM NOT RESPONDING. This indicates to me, that the program really is open....I cannot properly shut down the computer, as the message won't go away...
I have my specifications set up already. I hope to hear from someone who can help me get through this problem. I am thanking you in advance. :D
Sincerely,
JO

You've got lots of horsepower and RAM but it sounds like the CPU is
overburdened.

CTRL-ALT-DEL turn on Task Manager. Click Processes and click the CPU column
twice to sort on that column and put the high load processes at the top.
Anything odd/unusual there? Meaning anything that shouldn't be running and
eating up the CPU at the moment?

If you've got any 'active' browser-protectors or antivirus, disable them,
they can bring a PC to a crawl for little value.

Turn off everything unnecessary in the background, browsers, chat progs,
because they eat a ton of RAM.

Try booting into safe mode and see if it can open there.

memtest86 to check for bad RAM

Have a :) day!

Further things you can try....
Troubleshooting your computer

Regarding the error message when you close VideoStudio - alas this is quite common and I get it myself sometimes. The consensus of opinion is to ignore that particular error.
