Windows VISTA Silverlight Update

My Windows Update feature (I'm on VISTA Home premium) is telling my that I need to update my 'Silverlight' (optional only). I have not done so as yet.

I have 2 questions:-

1) what is 'Silverlight'? and
2) does it have any impact on my VS X2 Pro app?

A simple Google search would have told you that Silverlight is a Microsoft browser plug-in which enhances web surfing. As such, it has nothing to do with VS and updating it (which I have done with preceding Silverlight updates) should not clash with VS.

Thanks Ken. Just wanted to make doubly sure that it didn't impact my VS.
