DVD doesn't play past 30:00 minutes

I downloaded and installed the upgrade to VS Pro X2. I had VS 8. I also installed the patch. I activated the product during install using the supplied activation code. I have a Dell 4600C desktop, P4, 2.8 GHz, 2.5GB RAM, using on-board video adapter, NEC 3100 DVD+R drive using Memorex DVDs, Win XP SP2 with all the latest patches.
I made a slideshow using all JPG files and sound files (MP3s and WAV). The entire slideshow is about 35 minutes long. I burned a DVD and that process went fine. No errors, said it was successful.
When I play the DVD in either a traditional DVD player or the DVD play on any other PC the DVD will play fine until it gets to 30:00 minutes into the DVD then stops and restarts playing from the beginning when played in a traditional player. When trying to play this on a DVD player on a PC I can hear the drive trying to access the disc as if it ran into a bad spot on the disc then eventually gives up. I've burned DVDs successfully using VS 8 and the Memorex DVDs with no problems. I haven't tried installing the program on another PC to see what happens.
I find it odd that it stops right at 30:00 and won't go any further. At first I used MP3s for the audio files then changed them to the WAV equivalent thinking it had to do with the MP3 files. But no change. I updated the DivX drivers since my video wasn't playing in the preview window. That issue was resolved but DVDs still won't play past 30:00 minutes.
Any ideas? I searched the forums, FAQs and knowledgebase but didn't find any reference to this issue.
Thanks for looking.
