DVD Authoring - Physical File

Right click on that icon and repeat all that it says under Properties here please... I too have never seen reference to a 'physical file' before!?

Erm... you took the DVD out of the DVD drive, you unplugged your external hard drive, you took the SD card containing the video out of the card reader?

I did not do anything of the sort ie DVD out of the DVD drive etc.
This Physical File thing remains a mystery of VS X2.

I think what Steve was getting at is whether the file that is represented by that icon in the timeline is still wherever it was supposed to be. Can we assume you checked where it was originally stored and that you haven't moved it without saving the VS project file immediately afterwards so that that project file had its new location. That was also why I asked you to right click on that icon to see if the Properties gave a hint as to what folder the original file was supposed to be in...
We have certainly had people with disappearing files before. But what I have never seen before was a message using the actual words 'Physical File'...

THe VSP file is still in its folder. THe file in question was named 4_3.vsp then I did save to further files named 4_4.vsp and 4_5.vsp. The 4_3.vsp is still in the folder.

I am not sure I follow -- do you mean that Serrata Rabtija is a .vsp file? If so, what relationship to 4_3.vsp etc does it have?
You also perhaps do not realise that a .vsp file (which stands for Video Studio Project) is NOT a video file in its own right. It is really only a small text file which is a bit like a road map for Video Studio to follow. It says what video is included in a project, where it is stored, what editing has been done to it etc. It does not actually include that video. So if you have (as it seems) inserted a vsp in the timeline, but have moved or deleted some of the files it relates to, then the project will not not convert or burn properly. You would need to re-link with the original files.
But I may have been jumping to conclusions that you were receiving some sort of error message. But it could just be that with a vsp file in the timeline, that mouse hover message is just telling you that this is not a physical i.e. physical video, file, just a project file. If that is the case then just ignore it and go on with burning it.
Mind you, a lot of us here tend to avoid inserting vsp files in the burning timeline as in the past a lot of people had a lot of trouble doing that. It worked for some, but certainly not everyone. Instead, we finish editing in the Editing module, then convert the project into a new video file which is DVD compliant (Share > Create Video File > DVD). I believe you have finished your editing, then chose Share > Create Disc > DVD, and then inserted the vsp file into the burning timeline. Is that right?

I have never seen this pop up note before, saying that I haven¡¦t really looked for it, it does exist.
I am using VS 10 and a few quick tests identified this note.
Only when using VSP¡¦s did the note show as N/A ( I assume that to be ¡¥not applicable¡¦..) but always a reference to Chapter Points, usually the last one. In your case I assume 12.
I do not think there is a problem here. Are you able to continue and create the Disc/Image folders without trouble?

My work flow
I never add a VSP (Project File ) to the burner module.
I always Render my projects to create separate video files.
Then from an empty new project I set the properties to match my video files.
Then Share Create Disc¡XAdd Video File, adding the Mpeg File/Files
Yes I have to add any chapter points but that¡¦s just part of creating my menu structure.
The files are burned to disc with no further rendering of the mpeg files.
Creating the video file first merely splits my workflow into two.
1 / Editing and creating the video file.
2 / Creating the DVD
Using the VSP option burns the dvd in one process, well as far as you are concerned.
The project being converted to video files in the burner module. (Create Title)
The resultant temporary files being used to burn the disc.
In the past many users have had problems using this option, and the advice to create the video file first has resulted in success.
Its just a personal preference, I can only recommend the process that works for me.
I know you are trying several workflows as reference to Alpha and Beta in an earlier post.
By the way the earlier post seems to have lost the image links, can you edit the post to remove/repair the images.
