How Do I fade in and fade out with a still image, i'm a noob

hi,
I'm jason, transmigration2003.
i just purchased corel videostudio pro x2
How Do I fade in and fade out with a still image, (bmp etc...)
i'm not new to video editing, but new to this version of corel vsp.
point me in the right direction, thanks.
and forgive me if this shouldn't be posted here etc etc etc.

glad to be here, i like corel vsp. having demo'd it twice.

Welcome to the forums!

The way I do it is to insert a black colour panel on either side of the photo. You have the photo set for a few seconds, I presume. So you set the black panels also to last, say, 2 or 3 seconds each. Then between the first panel and the photo, insert a cross fade transition to last a second. And between the photo and the second black panel you can either use a cross fade or fade to black transition. That way, the photo appears to fade in from black and fades out to black again.

The colour panels can be found in the same drop down menu as videos, transitions, filters etc, in the little window directly below the Share tab across the top of screen.

Or, if you are fading from one picture to another, drop a transition between them or manually overlap them on the timeline. The latter method will insert whatever transition you have set in Preferences.
