I'm using MF6, and have created a 16:9 disc, but when I play it on any DVD linked to a TV, I get black bars at the top and bottom, and the images and videos are stretched. I have to maually set the TV to some kind of 'zoom' option in order to get it to display correctly.
However, when previewing the disc, it shows correctly on the computer screen.
does anyone know what I might be doing wrong? I'm using DVD-R's if that makes any difference!
Many thanks
Vince

What kind of tv is it being played on? You didn't say.
My first thought was you're playing it on a standard, old-fashioned tv and not a widescreen/HDTV, and your DVD player's tv type settings are not set for the type of tv it's being played back on....which would make the player create the black bars to fill in the remaining screen space.
On the DVD player connected to the tv in question, go into the player's set-up menu and see where the settings for TV Type (as it's usually called) are, and make sure it's set for the type of tv you are using:
4x3 letterbox for a non-widescreen tv
16x9 (widescreen) for a widescreen/HDTV
I can make further comments/give further suggestions, but need to know what type of tv the disc is being played back on.

Thanks for the reply,
My TV is and LCD 16 x 9 and my DVD player is set to screen type 16 x 9, its connected by a european Scart plug to the TV.
I expected the DVD to appear as it does on the preview in MF6, i.e. a perfect fit for 16x9, but it seems to be 'squashed' down at the top and bottom leaving black bars top/bottom, and squashed video/slideshows
Using a '16 x 9 zoom' option on my LCD TV, it displays correctly.....but I don't have to do this on a shop bought DVD (though I guess most of those are anamorphic), and am worried that the discs I'll be giving away, some people may not have a similar 'zoom' option available.
I've tried this on 3 DVD players, all connected to 16 x 9 LCD screens (all analogue connections though).
The sources are widescreen WMV movies 1280 x 720, and the slideshow is created purely in MF6, with a lot of 16 x 9 photos.
I'm not sure what else I need to change!

This is maybe the problem. the WMV (and also not the static pictures)does not contain the WSS code to switch the TV into 16:9 format. For the correct 16:9 format you need the so called streched pixels (different size of tv picture pixels) what is controlled by WSS.
The best way to create from the WMF and photos a 16:9 DVD video file (mpg) and this file you can import to DVD burner (16:9) SW. This one step more as in a simple way but works.
