burn dvd will not play on other players

Post by dlama »

I have created projects and burned to dvd-r and dvd+rw and neither will play on 3 different home dvd players. The computer dvd player will recognize the disc and play it as a dvd, but the home players say no disc or disc error. What is going wrong?

Read your DVD Players Manual.
You need to use the correct Dvd media that's compatible with
your home dvd player. Some dvd players only play commercial
dvd's.
The newer panasonic multi-format dvd players play all types of dvd's.
In reference to "Panasonic Units" they must say "Multi-Format"

There is also a widely held belief (to which I subscribe) that the cheaper brands of stand-alone DVD players (mostly from China and Taiwan) will play just about anything put into them. On the other hand, the more expensive brand-name players are much more picky and fiddly about what they will and, more often, will not play.

How long is the video? Short test videos may not play in all players, a DVD is supposed to contain at least 1GB of material.

That's what the "Quick Eject" option is for -- if you leave it unchecked (which is what I would recommend), then UVS will pad the disk with additional data to ensure the greateest compatibility.
