Importing from DVD

Post by DavidLMM »

I am trying to edit a DVD that I made a year or so ago, probably using Pinnacle at the time. I am now using VS11+.

When I try via right-click on the timeline, no matter what selection I make, I get a small screen that says "Parse DVD Content" 10%, then 30%, then 58%, then a larger screen titled "Import DVD Initialization". Inside that screen I see the disc's name, and below that Label, Title 0, and Chapter 0.
Within this window, I can play both the title and the chapter, but the "import" button at the bottom never enables - my only option that is enabled is "close".
I have also tried to use the Capture Step - Import from DVD without success . Also I have tried the "File - Insert media to timeline" command, also without success. With both of these, I get to a point after "open video file" where I see the title, select VIDEO_TS, select "Files of all formats" and "open" - nothing happens. If I "browse", no matter which of the 7 files I select, I get an error that says "Unable to Open - File Format Mismatch".

I used DVDDecrypter to "rip" the DVD to my HD, that's the source of the 7 files mentioned in the latter step above. In the former example, I have the original DVD in my D: drive.

All I really want to do is change out the title section in the first 7 seconds of this disc - and it's taken me days of wrestling with it so far! Any help is appreciated.

Do you see the little boxes next to Label, Title 0, etc.? You must put a check in one/all of those boxes to choose what to import.

Black Lab,

Well, color me embarassed! I have clicked, right clicked, double-clicked, etc. those files 'til I was blue in the face. In my world, "select" (see user's guide, p 48) means "click so it turns blue", which it does. I never noticed, nor does the manual say, anything about the boxes, it only says "select"! Now that I know, and using a magnifying glass for the 2pt. typeface, I can see it in the guide. Thanks a ton.

Now, on to trying to master transitions and audio filters....(I know, I have read that the audio filters are particularly weak on VS)
