Can't Turn Off Auto Repeat

Post by Black Lab »

Using the Suggested Workflow in X2 Pro, I have a twelve minute MPEG-2 that I want to burn to DVD. It will contain no menu, one chapter point at the ten minute mark (for the blooper reel), then the disc will end. I do not want it to automatically repeat. I have always ended my discs without repeating.

When I click Share>Create Disc I add my MPEG-2 and set the chapter point. I then open up Project Settings and set my burn properties to match my MPEG-2. I uncheck Auto Repeat When Disc Playback Ends then set Clip Playback for Back to Menu.

The project burns without a hitch BUT, the disc always repeats.

I re-burned with the same settings, but this time only to a DVD Folder - still repeats.

I removed the chapter point and re-burned - still repeats.

I re-burned using Continue To Play Next Clip instead of Back to Menu - still repeats.

I tried burning with VS10, using all the above variations - still repeats.

Then I tried using DVD MovieFactory 7 Pro. Using my original burn settings it burned correctly - NO AUTO REPEAT! :D I thought this problem might have something to do with the MF, since it is the first project I have tried to burn since installing MF on my machine. But, I also have a copy of X2 Pro on my work computer (but no MF), so I just tried a test with the sample clips that are provided. Same problem. This time I updated my DirectX and... wait for it... it still repeats. :(

I remember a previous version of VS (v9 maybe) that could not auto repeat, and that problem was replicated by other users. Can anyone replicate this new issue?

Hi Jeff

Just gave that a go. VS 10
12 minute mpeg, no menu, chapter point at 10 minutes.
Set Navigation as Back to Menu.
Created TS folder

Plays in Power DVD as ok, stops playing at the end. Navigation controls seem ok.

But having problems with the chapter point, I don¡¦t seem to be able to select it????
Maybe cos there¡¦s no menu???? Never used this approach before.

I will run through it again.

When you say no menu, you may be best to select / create the menu, then under ¡¥advanced¡¦ select hide menu.
But this will show the chapter menu on start/load. Not sure that¡¦s what you want?

By the way i have had no problems with the navigation controls with any version of VS

The reason I don't want a menu is because I want to put the DVD in the player and have it start playing. The chapter mark is merely so someone can jump straight to the bloopers if they want to.

And thanks for the mention of PowerDVD. The auto repeat would happen whether a disc was played by a stand-alone player or by PowerDVD. The DVD folder option was also played by PowerDVD.

Hi Jeff

Just ran through it again.

This time I was able to select the chapter point.
It plays ok, starts at the beginning, can select the chapter point and stops playing at the end of the video.
No repeats.

It seems to do what its supposed to, sorry.

Your probably gonna end up doing a clean install with all the additional software, qt, indeo, direct x etc
I don¡¦t know why but try re-installing Indeo Driver.

I appreciate your efforts Trevor. Since MovieFactory seems to work ok I'll stick with that for the time being.

It is weird though. :?
