VS11 .mpg files and Window Media Player 11

I have had several versions of the VS versions since VS4 up to VS11. When I play saved .mpg files created with VS11 in Windows Media Player 11, all I get is a grey screen w/audio. My .mpg files created with earlier versions of VS play just fine in WMP11.
I don't have the disc space to save all of my files in .avi. Any suggestions working with and saving permanent video files created in VS11?

Hi
What are the video properties?
Can you compare the video properties of the files to see if there is any difference.
By adding them to a new project you should get an info window asking you to change the project properties to match,
select the ¡¥Detail¡¦ tab to view the right panel showing the video properties.
Copy and paste the details to the forum.
When you said---all I get is a grey screen w/audo¡Xdoes that mean with or without audio???????

I have the same problem with a Vista-64 based PC on MPG's created with VS 11.5+. I get a solid color for the image (the solid color was always the color of the first frame of the video) and the audio plays normally. I tried a couple of older MPG's that were created with VS 10 and they are OK.
I tried the same VS 11.5+ files on my XP based PC and they played normally. I also loaded the MPGs into the timeline of X2-Pro they worked fine so my assumption is that the issue is in WMP.
I got sidetracked on another project and have not had time to look into this further but will have to deal with it in the next week or so too.
