Printing clip times in and out of timeline

Post by erock »

Hi,

I need to get a print out of all the clips in my times line.

I use Media Studio Pro 8 and DVD Movie Factory Authoring.

We are checking on scenes and voice and video sync and want the time code for each clip in and out of tghe timeline.

It was a 3 camera shot and we have edited them using all cams but on the final completed show, noticed in some clips the vocal is out of sync with the vision.

It is over an hour show so it would be quicked to get the time codes in print.

Thanks

To describe the process is rather lengthy, so if you have the User Manual for MSP8 go to page #167, Creating an EDL (Edit Decision List) file. The next segment describes Posting a Timecode. You might also review the chapter on Scanning a DV Tape page# 224.

If you don't have the User Manual you can download it from the old Ulead Website: http://www.ulead.com/msp/msp8_lowres_manual.pdf
How and what did you use to capture your video clips? Using MSP's Video Capture, Scan DV Tape, there is the option to also create Index Files, which are very useful in post production work.

Thank you for your help.

I do have the manual (just got to find it and Charlie's as well) so will get the answers there when I do.

I captured via MSP8's regular Capture but did not specify anything in particular. Just used the default. I will go and revist this as well.

At least I am really pleased that MSP does thsi as you're righgt it could be a really vauluable and time saving tool.

In my case it seems a particular camera is the one out of sync and there are many many clips in and out of the production which would be a nightmare to document manually. This way I can give the editors the list and they can get to the clips easily.

I thought it may be in DVDMF if it picked up every scene change as a chapter etc., but looks like this is my go.

Many thanks again,

Oh - Murphy's Law again!

I have found that the tape I need to get the clip time codes from is a completed project. By that I mean it was captured as an already created video so the clips are not separate but just now scene changes.

I found the manual and looked under Split by Scene however that too does not apply as that option is grayed out and say the scene does not contain any data.

If you had to get all the (clip) scene entry points what would you now do, other than manually go through it?

Hope this doesn't spoil your day, then again I hope the answer doesn't spoil mine!! :-)

PS: Maybe npw DVDMF will give me what i need now that they are possible potential 'scene' (chapter) changes.
