Cannot import DVD

Post by hanskru »

Hi VS frineds,

I cannot in the capture mode import a DVD made with VS x2.
I tried also to import another DVD same problem, salso with VS10.
The error mesage: Failed to read DVD information, error message 0x80040901(2305).

In the past I was able to import DVD's within various VS previous versions.

Any suggestion?

Brgds Hans

Import DVD

Post by Ken Veal »

Have you tried this way :
right click the library or timeline
In select a DVD title box--------"Insert DVD"
With DVD in your DVD drive, select that drive
Select import
In import DVD box.........tick all the chapters you want
Click import
They eventually end up in the library or timeline depending on which one was right clcked on .......................... Ken

Hi hanskru
Its most likely that you have a corrupt disc.
Try this

Copy the DVD's TS folder to your hard drive.

From the TS folder:-

Try importing the Vob files to the timeline. (one at a time.)
OR
Re-name the *****.Vob files to have extension ******.Mpg

Import Mpg files to timeline. (one at a time)

Hi Trevor,

it happens with all my DVD's. The DVD itself plays well on a DVD player, only to import it within VS I got this problem.

Thanks Hans

Rip it with DVD Decryper and then import the file in Ulead VideoStudio. That might work.

Hi

Did you try copying the Vobs to your hard drive, rename the Vob files with MPG extension.

The obvious answer is a broken DVD drive.

To take Steve's suggestion of a faulty burner one step further, you could take out the burner in your computer and install it in the case of the external burner you successfully used. Then you could test it as an external burner. If it fails again, you would thus confirm that it needs replacing.

Conversely, you could swap the external and internal drives, and if the former external burner no longer works when it is internal, then there must be some other hardware problem...
