Can VS12 open VS9 files?

I have VS9 and was considering purchasing VS12. Will VS12 be able to open my existing VS9 projects?

X2 has the ability to save a project as a v11 or v10 project, but not v9. But that's not to say it can't open it. It should be able to.
Maybe someone has v9 and can test it...?

Whilst you might be able to open a VS9 project with VS12 (Haven't tried - currently I am running a Windows 7 Machine and not installed anything on it.) It has always been the recommendation of this Web Board that you complete a project using the version it was created with.
It has been known for odd little problems to occur when you open a project with a different version. All this means is finish the one you now have with VS9 but next time use VS X2.
(recommendation - did I spell that right? - haven't even installed a spell checker on this machine yet!!)

I have in the past, successfully opened a VS9 project in VS Pro X2. You need to make sure that all your material (video, image, audio, title clips) used in your VS9 project, are in the same location as they were when you used them in VS9. Did you use any of the samples provided in VS9? If so those most likely are not the same as what's available in VS12.
Finally I agree with Steve that you should finish any project started in earlier versions, and use that version if you are wanting to further edit those project files.

But the "reverse" does "NOT" seem to work properly...
I created a project with x2, and used two "overlay" tracks,
and two "title tracks"...
Upon saving the project for VS 10, when I opened it in
VS 10, the second overlay and title tracks did not transfer.
So, saving for another version in VS x2 does NOT work!

I have successfully saved an X2 Pro project as a 10 Pro project. But I'm not sure how X2 handles properties that v10 doesn't have, such as 2 title tracks.

Thank you for all the responses. I was able to open my VS9 project with X2. I had to use X2 since VS9 kept crashing my machine.
