Video Studio 11.5 overlay type situation

Howdy,

I don't know what to call it, but is there some way of inserting a picture or another small clip over an existing video clip so that it looks like the clip is happening to someone else other than the actual person in the video. Say for example you had some video of someone getting a pie in the face and you'd like to make a little gag clip, but overlay someone elses face so it appears as though the pie hits them in the face instead. Don't know whether this program has that ability.

Cheers,
Max

There isn't a built in routine for face recognition so that you can exchange an existing face with another. The only way with any software in this price range is to go through each frame individually with an image editor.

PAL = 25 Frames per second = 1500 frames per minute.
NTSC = (almost) 30 Frames per second = 1800 frames per minute.

It may not be as difficult as first seems because many of the "faces" will be in more or less the same place in each frame and so your image editor might be able to automate a lot of the replacements with "macros".

It would not be too different from the procedure in this link where a video has been converted to monochrome but an item kept in colour:

Thanks Ken,

That's pretty cool and I'm downloading the trial version of photoimpact X3 to give it a try. If it works well I'll probably purchase. The thing with this is, if I remove the face and replace with another, then the pies gone as well.......I guess you can't make your pie and eat it too.........as well as leave the pie behind and only replace the face.........
