capture a quicktime movie from the Internet

Post by bob733 »

Does VS Pro X2 capture video from a quicktime movie playing on the computer?

I checked the Free stuff Steve had compiled and found Fraps. Downloaded it but I cant get it to work. (when the quicktime movie is playing, I hit the F9 key (to start recording via Fraps) and nothing happens. The help is not really helpful.

So, I am looking for an alternative way to capture video (and the audio) as it is playing on the screen.

No unfortunately VS is not capable of capturing in that manner. I've no experience with FRAPS, so don't know how to get it to capture videos from the internet. If the video is a MOV file, are you not able to just save it to your PC, then insert that into your VS project? I've done it a few times, not only with MOV files, but various videos on YouTube, using the website kickyoutube...;)

If you are using Firefox as your browser, try Downloadhelper downloadeable from here http://www.downloadhelper.net/index.php. I have used it on many occasions in the past, not sure if there is anything similar for IE Explorer.

re Fraps:
Have you-
allocated a folder to save the video in and if so is there anything there.
Not disabled the hot key (F9) by mistake (+ pressed it to finish)
Selected "Movies" and not stills
Got the latest version(think it is 2.97)
Tried " Cam Studio" (Not used that yet) ......................Ken
