Someone general questions

Post by Pixelation5 »

How come consumer camcorders don't have the option of uncompressed recording? Is this so people buy more expensive models?

With SD, is 16:9 official, or 4:3 only? When I think SD I think PAL TV (I live in Australia), so I don't see the point in recording SD in 16:9.

Cost, you want uncompressed recording you can buy it, but it's tens of thousands of UK£.
If you have a 4.3 tv, then record in 4.3, if you have a 16.9 tv record in 16.9.
If you think you will have a 16.9 tv soon then record in 16.9 so when you watch your movies later they'll be better proportioned.

Yeah, I am still deciding if I should use 4:3 or 16:9, because I will be using SD, and SD (PAL etc) was designed for 4:3. I feel better sticking to the 576i standard.

Only because 16.9 wasn't invented when the 4.3 std was written, you could say you'd be better off sticking with black and white with no audio, as that was the first standard :)

If you cam records in proper widescreen adn you have a widescreen tv, then use it.

I read some where that plasma uses non-square pixels.

What exactly is non-square pixels and what does rendering non-square pixels in VideoStudio 11.5 Plus do to the output file?
