Hi there.

VS X2

How do I cause the first clip not to place itself at the very beginning of the timeline but only about 5 seconds into the project?

Thanx,
Deon

Make a black "blank" JPEG with the photo/image editing software of your choice. Drop it in before the video, and set it to display for 5 seconds.

Is that what you want to accomplish?

Exactly. Does this box need to be a specific size?
Thank you very much. :D

Doug is making it a little more difficult than it needs to be. There are 2 easy ways to do it:

1. On the Edit tab, from the gallery drop down list choose Color, and drag a color clip (usually black, but can be whatever you wish) to the timeline. Adjust the length to 5 seconds.

2. Put your video in an overlay track. Clips in the overlay track do not "snap" to the beginning.
