For some reason I only have a problem with the Tube 01 template (Of course it is the one I want to use!)
When I use Movie Wizard, insert a few images, click next, go to Theme template, click Tube 01 theme, and try to preview, it crashes VS about when the title says: "Story The..." Same place every time. Rebooted and tried several times. Installed update patch. Reinstalled Flash.ocx. Updated Direct X. Same problem.
When I save it to Edit Video, it crashes there, too. For some reason, if I delete the title, it seems to work.
I tried most of the other templates and didn't have a problem. Just Tube 01 makes it hang. Any help?
This is the error message sent to Microsoft:
AppName: vstudio.exe AppVer: 12.0.0.0 ModName: mono.vft
ModVer: 8.0.0.0 Offset: 00001e1f
I'm running:
Windows xp3
AMD Athlon 2400+
RAM 2.5 Gig
Free disk space: 10 gig
video adapter:NVidia GeForce 6200
Movie Wizard hangs VS X2

Welcome to the forums,
So far I can't get it to crash VS on my system. By the error message I'm guessing that the filter VS is using in that template is causing the crash. The filter would be the Light Video filter. To test this, do not start in the Movie Wizard, instead just drop the same video clip in the editor timeline. Then add the Light Video Filter. It should crash if there is a problem with that filter. If so then the only way that I know to correct it, is to reinstall VS.
Out of curiosity, what type of video file(s) are you adding in the movie wizard, DV (avi), Xvid, DivX, MPEG (1,2, or 4), WMV?
Finally 10 gig of free space on a hard drive is very small when working with certain video files. Take for instance DV (avi), uses 13 gig per hour of video. Now add to this the additional space required for temp files needed for any rendering. A rule of thumb so to speak would be at least 2x if not 2½X the size of a video file. 1 hour of DV would need at least 26 gig of free space. So if you attempt to preview your project, using High-Quality, VS will render a temp file, and needs the space to do so. I recommend either purging your HDD of non-essential files, and/or getting a second HDD. When thinking video editing think in very large sizes, the minimum would be 250 gig, ideally 1-terrabyte..

Thanks. I'll try your filter solution when I get home from work.
As far as file types, at first I was mixing jpg and DV. Then I tried it with just jpg slides. Still crashed. (I've tried several different batches of pictures from different cameras, scanners, etc - same result)
Also, when I posted my question, I actually had a 2nd 160 Gig HD in my system where I stored all my video files. I should have mentioned that.
I just upgraded everything. I now have the 160 Gig on my C: drive (100 gigs free) and a new 500 gig HD for storage.
