I'm trying to draw a semi transparent image to use as menu overlay in Workshop 2.
I've been using *.png in PhotoImpact. However choosing a mask colour only converts the same index colour whichever settings I have used.
A Semi Transparent Overlay

Thanks Steve. I have been aware of that. I have been using Ulead DVD Workshop for years now and find it absolutly great.
What I have been trying to do is to produce more overlays which are already semi transparent. It can be done using PhoroImpact in Libraies > Mask. My intention was to produce semi ternsparency that fades away on the edges.
I can't upload so have a look here:

Here is a screen shot of the overlay that Coral is attempting to produce.

Not sure if it can be done with colour. My understanding of transparency is that you have a monochrome overlay where black is transparent, white is opaque and differing shades of grey let more/less of the underlying image through. I think anything in colour is treated as white - i.e. opaque.
