If you're referring to the Windows menu, to change that go to Tools menu>Folder Options>File Types. Then scroll down through the list until you find the file type/extension that you want to change. Then in the Details For.. section there's a button Change. Press that and another dialog will open where you can change the program that you want to open whatever file you're concerned with.

To edit WMV (windows movies), you need to use the Insert Video File. I would not recommend in having windows open a WMV file with VS. You'll have headaches when you want to play video files over the internet, or just on your PC.

Well I had it working for a while, then for some reason x2 would not come up in the open with page, I went to Conrol Panel, Folders, It shows everything but Video Studio x2, shows Real Player, Power Director, and a ton of other programs but no Video Studio xt, even when I hit browse nothing there, please help, Thanks I even reloaded the x2 restarted the comp, that did not help, driving me nuts.

How many different types vid files are there and which are the ones x2 will not open, my vids are taken with a JVC hard drive camera

The easy way to associate any program with a certain file type
(jpg doc xls mpg bmp and so on)
is to open windows explorer and navigate to a file with that file extension.
Right click the file and select "Open With"
A list of previously used programs for that file type will appear, if the program you want is not in that list then you select the option at the bottom of the list "Choose program." and then navigate to it.

In the dialog box that appears you have a further option to always use this program to open this file type.

I have x2 on my desktop and it shows in Add or Remove Programs, but x2 does not show when I open "all programs"? The only Corel programs under "all programs" is Ulead Stufio 6 or something like that,

If you have selected the default installation directory the program is this one:

"C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio 12\vstudio.exe"

Why No Video X2

Post by flyfisherman »

In the open with page, IE Shows Windows media shows, even Roxio shows plus Real Player and many other programs but NO Ulead x2, driving me nuts, can't retrieve my vids, I just have the trial program, but Studio 11 drove me nuts to, should I pay for the full upgrade or won't that do anything, what are the advantages of the full version over the trial version. I love the program but not if I can't load ore retrieve my videos and why are deleted programs in the "Open with" and not x2? I just spent 30 miles and 2 hours videoing trout rising in the rain and lost the damm vid, can't retrieve it?

On the 'Open With' page, is there not a Browse button where you can navigate to where the .exe file you are after is stored?

When I click "Browse" I find Corel, click that and Studio 12 shows, when I click that 12 file opens what do I need to do? Do appreciate the help! Thanks
