I am a new member and look forward to participating in your discussions.
As with many users of Corel Video Studio--there are times--when things that were normally working fine one day--dont the next.
Would greatly appreciate any input on the following proplem.
I am no longer able to use my Save As Still Image to freeze a portion of video and save it as an image in Video Studio 12. I had previously used Video Studio 11 and upgraded.
I have downloaded the updated DirectX - I am being asked "Locacation where you want to place the extracated file" When downloading the Microsoft component, I have selected 'Run' and it will not automatically do an install on my OS it is asking me "Location where you want to place the extracated file" I have selected RUN but I keep getting request to where to place files. I have not done anything- thinking I would be putting this download in the wrong area.
I realize this in an update for my Windows OS and not for the VideoStudio X2.
So where would I install this file??? Please advise.I have Downloaded
DirectX End-User Runtime (August 2008):

Dell Latitude D820 with Windows XP--I just upgraded to new Video Studio Pro X2
Any other suggestions??? Has anyone else had this same problem and have a solution for mel? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Go back to MS's website and look for the March 2009, as it is the most recent. They are updating this quarterly. When you locate it, do not select run. Save it to your hard drive. You will also want to create a folder to extract it to. I just name the folder something like DirectX 3-2009. The reason for this is that it will extract a whole lot of CAB files, something like 200 or more. Once they are extracted you need to look for the executable file (EXE) within that folder to install/update it.

Thank you Vidoman,
I appreciate your help. I did go back and download Direct x---added to a new file and extracted those files and crossed my fingers----I even shut down my computer and restarted it... Alss---this did not fix the problem of the "Save as a Still Image" I keep pressing the "Save As" tab and it still won't do anything to freeze the image.
Any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure it's not? I ask because using the Save As Still Image, automatically places a copy in the Image Library. Are you trying this from the timeline in Clip and / or Project Mode? In Project Mode you need to use Tools>Save Current Frame as Image. Check the folder that you have designated as your working folder in your Preferences (F6). You might also see if you have the image capture set to BMP or JPEG. Try changing it to the other format that it is set for.
