Help with burning dvd disk

this is such an emergency (birthday project due tomorrow), I am submitting the question before thourghly researching it. If it has been answered somewhere on the forum, I appologise, but this is panic city.l

I tried (twice) to burn a VSP file to a DVD. Both times, it bombed off (with the same error:
"Failed to burn data on to the disk"
534:-2147216291.0

I am using a Philp DVD burner which as always workded before (except, I did notice that it will no longer play a second DVD (after playing the first one ok).

But in burning, it bombed twice with the same error message. I changed the burn speed from maximum to 8x, but it bombed again (albiet it got almost to the end the second time).

If anyone has any ideas please let me know. In the mean time, I will reboot and try to burn again (but this time use 4x for the speed).

Try using a different workflow, instead of jumping straight into the burn module (Share>Create Disc), first render your project (VSP file), to a DVD Compatible MPEG-2, Share>Create Video File>DVD.

Next make sure you save your project file (File menu>Save). Then simply clear the timeline by going to File>New Project. Now go directly to Share>Create Disc, do not put anything in the timeline. This will open the burn module. Once the burn module opens, Insert the newly created MPEG-2 file.

From here build your menus, add/edit chapters and so on. Then you also want to make sure that you have Do not Convert Compliant MPEG-2 files checked in the Project Settings/Preferences for the burn module. It has settings separate from the editor.

Once you are ready to burn, you might also press the down-arrow to the right in the final step, and choose to Create DVD Folders. This way you can test the final result before actually burning a disc.

Ron, that worked! thanks!
However when I went to play it on a 1080 TV, the picture colors were bad (green or blue faces etc). I believe I did it in 720p.

Could that have caused the problem?

What should I do so that it can play on any tv?

quick update... I just ran the save dvd on a 32 inch 720 p system and the colors were good. It must be creating a 720 and playing it on a 1080 that is mussing it up.

What do the colors look like when you play it on your pc?

on the pc (where I have a 32 inch 720p Dynex flatscreen tv being used for a monitor, the colors are fine and the picture quality is good. On my 50 inch 1080 flatscreen panasonic tv they are greenish or bluish and bad quality (not sharp).

Then I think it is either a setting on your DVD player or your TV. Do you have another TV you can connect the DVD player to, just to narrow down the culprit?

trying that now but i cant get the *&%$)(*&^#$ dvd player to get by what looks like an opening title to the movie (that I didnt want (and did not think I specified anyway)! All I wanted the movie to do was start. I will have to make another movie and make sure this time it does not put that &&^%$((*&^ header up there... And no, the move forward one chapter does not work.
