Alludo USER to USER Web Board

Hello all,
The Device Manager on Windows XP has highlighted the 'OCI IEEE 1394 Host Controller' as faulty. A year ago I could capture video no problem and nothing has changed since.

There's no new hardware so I can't imagine what conflict there might be. I am now using VS 11 though, wasn't before. I tried to capture video last night: but it can't detect the camera.

I allowed Windows to try to update the driver but it couldn't find anything on my original DELL installation CDs or locally that was newer.

I also can't find them online to download

Any pointers folks? I'll be most grateful. I think this problem might even be affecting my PCs general performance.

Is the IEEE port part of the motherboard or a seperate pci card.
If it's a card then simply remove it and turn pc on and see if the pc works better. Try fitting it again, making sure it is well home in it's slot. Turn on pc and let windows supply the driver.
If it's part of the mobo then you need to disable it.

Fitting a new port is the ony option if it is faulty.

I really appreciate the reply.

We installed a SWEEX Firewire Card. PCI is indeed mentioned on the packaging.

The Firewire Cable plugs into the card. Does this help?

Perhaps it has become loose. When we first put the card in over a year ago, it didn't work and it turned out that I hadn't pushed it into the slot fully - not aggressive enough.

turn off pc
remove card
turn on pc
turn off pc
insert card and ensure it is fully home
turn on pc
check if it works.

Last night the Yellow Exclamation symbol disappeared after I pushed the card down a bit (even though I felt no movement).

A while later the OCI IEEE 1894 Host ... etc. disappeared from the Devices list. An new error showed beside a generic 'PCI' listing.

So perhaps your latest tip will fix this.
