Everytime I try to open an AVI file with DVD MovieFactory, I get a window titled "Open Video File." It states
"Unable to open file [file name]
Unable to open the file."
I dont seem to have this problem with MPEG files. Anyone know how to fix this?

Is this the same problem you posted about previously? If so there was a reply to it...http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?p=176890#176890

Oops. Sorry about that. Actually, MovieFactory was letting me open AVI files when I installed it. It only stopped rght before my original post on the problem. As my computer is used by everyone in my household, I dont know if someone messed with the computer and did something that caused it to start this or what. I was hoping I might be able to find out how to fix this problem so it would allow me to open AVI files again like it was originally.
Is this the same "AVI" (DivX) file that opened before? If you read the other post, you know that not all AVI files are the same format. Of course, Movie Factory can open some AVI files.

I know its been a whils since I posted something here, but I just found out something and wondered if it might be related to this problem. I ran the SHERLOCK - The Codec Detective utility and it listed the following as a broken codec:
"Broken Codecs
-------------
DivX® 5.1.1 Codec
FileName = C:\WINDOWS\system32\C:\PROGRA~1\ULEADS~1\ULEADD~1\ULEADD~1\DivX_UL.dll"
Does this have anything to do with the problem and how do I fix it?
