I have recently installed a new motherboard. Everything runs nice except for Paint Shop "Open File". I can't use the Open File nor can I use the icon for Open File. It crashes Paint Shop every time. If I use the pictures in the organizer than it will open. Anybody know what might be causing this?? Nothing else has changed.

Thanks for getting back to me vidoman. I did what you suggested and it was a no go. I formatted my HD, reloaded Windows and then reloaded Paint Shop. That was the only thing I loaded and it still crashed which leads me to believe somehow the motherboard is responsible. I loaded a previous version of Paint Shop and it also crashed. Paint Shop just doesn't like the motherboard for whatever reason.

Since you have a pristine setup, no other junk that could cause a conflict, I would report this to Corel so that they may have a look at why PSP is having this problem with your make/model of motherboard..
Edited;
Have you downloaded and installed the patches for PSP? You can access them HERE if not..

The one thing that is really puzzling me is that you can open files using the organizer. This is what is convincing me that it may be something other than your MOBO. If it were, I tend to think that you would not be able to run or open any files at all.
There may be some settings in your BIOS that is causing PSP crash. Have you checked the Event Error Logs? There may be a clue listed as to why PSP is crashing...
Have a look at this thread about Troubleshooting your PC... http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?t=21196

I have been e-mailing with Corel and, as I thought I would, I am
getting no help. It's like I am corresponding with a machine that is
stuck on repeat. They say "Update Your video driver" I say I did and they come back with Update your video driver, etc. So I guess I am stuck with this problem.
Thanks for your help

Go HERE and download the latest MS Direct-X drivers. The most current is dated March 2009.
You might also try Exempting if from Data Execution Prevention. I've just recently had this jump up and be an issue with PhotoImpact. This is after running it without problems.
To Exempt a program from DEP do the following:
1. Right-click on My Computer and Select Properties
2. In the System Properties dialogue that opens click on the Advance Tab.
3. Click on the Settings button for Performance.
4. In the Performance Options, click on the 3rd tab, Data Execution Prevention.
5. Click the radio button for Turn on DEP for all.....
6. Click on the Add button, a window will open that you can navigate to where the executable file for VS, MSP, PI or whatever program you're having problems with, is located. Generally this is found under C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\. However you may have it installed to some other location on your system.
7. Once you have found it, click on it to add it to the execeptions list.
Now if DEP was preventing your program from launching that should take care of it.
