AVi to MPEG conversion problem
I have noticed that when I create a DVD (PAL) MPEG 2 file from an AVI master, the resultant MPEG has lost it's Tone settings when run i.e. seems a lot lighter in appearance. I can apply the automatic tone setting to this MPEG which recovers the quality, but I can't save this modified mpeg for burning onto a DVD.

Welcome to the forums!
For example, you say you use an 'AVI master' but what are its properties? There are quite literally hundreds of different video formats which use the .avi extension, and they can be wildly different. So right click on the master within video studio and copy down ALL its Properties here please.
And we also need to know the properties you are using for the mpeg-2 file.
Please also describe exactly what you do and what happens when you try to save the modified mpeg for burning -- are there any error messages?
You very well may be, but unfortunately you don't provide enough information for us to base an answer on.Am I doing something wrong when creating a DVD (PAL) MPEG 2 file?

Am I doing something wrong when creating a DVD (PAL) MPEG 2
Thanks for your reply.
My sample Video from a Canon G9 Camera:
Format: Microsoft AVI files...Open DML
Frame Rate: 30 frames/sec.
Date Rate: 1984.46 Kbps
Video
Compression: MJPEG Compressor.
Attributes: 24bit, 640 x 480.
Audio
Compression: PCM
Attributes: 44.1khz, 16bit Mono.
My created Ulead Video:
Format: PAL DVD.
Video Type: MPEG-2 Video, lower field first.
Attribute: 24bit, 720 x 576, 4:3.
Frame Rate: 25frames/sec.
Date Rate - Variable bit at 8000kbps.
I simply select and drag into the work area the video file (AVI format). I then select the Share Tab, followed by selecting 'Create Video File'.
I then select PAL DVD and then save. The program then renders the video file. Once saved the thumbnail is available to view. On clicking on it I see the paused start image - which has good tone image. Once I play it, the tone reduces, giving a brighter, less tone rich video.
I hope this helps in identifying what I may be doing wrong.
