Hi All,
I have a 137 second DVD clip (with audio) that is Video Type: MPEG-2 and it has a file size of 135,000 KB. I want to put this clip into my power point presentation but it wont except it. I believe that it is because it is too big. At the moment I have the clip saved on a CD and it can be played quite happily in Windows Media Player.
How can I get the file size much smaller, I'm sure the quality doesn't have to be of DVD standard, I just need to be able to show the picture with audio.
Any help greatly appreciated-please be as simple as posible in your responses I'm not that technical yet.

MPEG-2 far too big

output to new file
output the clip to a new file using the VCD Standard template -- that will bring it down considerably, but it will be 352 x 240/288 (NTSC/PAL).

Hi
I don’t use power point that much.
I just tried inserting a large file Mpeg to PP with no problems.
I don’t think there is a limit on file size.
It’s probably the mpeg properties that it does not like.
Rendering to a standard format as suggested by GeorgeW should work, but I don’t think you have to stick with VCD, although this will reduce the size a lot, and be suitable.
Try rendering out to a few different formats to see which works best in power point.
Hope this Helps

If the final movie is to be inserted into a PP presentation, you can make a WMV or MPEG1. I'd likely go the MPEG1 route.
Using VS9 to encode, with the content on the timeline, go to Share, Create Video File>Custom

Select MPEG

Then select encoding type:

Under General, select the size. For VGA output - a computer screen - you might prefer 640x480 for output. Try it in Windows Media Player to see if you like it.

Re: MPEG-2 far too big
I don't think the size is the issue. I recently inserted an 8 minute 720x480 AVI file (1.6 GB) into a powerpoint presentation with no problems. Powerpoint must not like the video properties of your file. What version of Powerpoint are you using? I am using the latest from Office 2003 (Office 11). The prior version of Powerpoint (Office 10) was much more picky when it came to video file properties.edwardshlang wrote:Hi All,
