I tried to download Messer from the Driveway.com link you provided. The file is no longer there.

This stands for "Memo Session Recorder". It is a piece of software that enables you to record anything coming through your soundcard no matter what the source, TV Card, Internet, CD etc. In fact this was the software I used a few years ago to convert my entire collection of LP's into MP3 format by connecting a record player to my soundcard.
