Hello all,
Finally back to this forum after being gone. I have a request to do another movie and was wondering if anyone knew where I could get a typing effect.

This is an effect that, like in a CIA movie, it will start typing (for example):

TIme: 1600 Hours Zulu (GMT)
Place: The Congo
etc., etc., etc.

I am doing a Mission Impossible type movie for a Birthday Boy. I believe I can download the Mission Impossible sound track (or theme song at least), from Itunes but not sure if I can dub that to my new VideoStudio Pro X2 application.

I am also looking for the new features explained (as compared to VS 11 Plus which I had). I have been looking arouond Utube and some of the tutorials etc and getting an understanding but have not got a clear "this is what you can now do with Pro X2).

I have done Google searches (and this forum searches) for the Time, Place request, to no avial.

So, any help would be appreaciated.

Oh, one other question. One of the parents gave me a sony camcorder with output ports RCA and Svideo. What would be the best (and easiest) way to get those tape clips into Pro X2?

You could try the Fade title animation, using the second preset animation. It's close.

Click on the Title tab (at the top). Double-click in the Preview Window to get your text box and enter your text. Click on the Animation tab and put a check in the Apply Animation box. Click on the TT to choose your animation.

As for the features of VS 12/X2 -- it's all there on the Corel.com website on http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... bview=tab0 There are a number of tabs across the page labelled with things like Overview, New Features etc.

On the question of capturing from the Sony camcorder, it really depends what model it is. It sounds as though it could be an old analogue model, in which case you would need some intermediate device for capturing. That could be a dedicated capture device -- using either the S-video and RCA plugs from the camera, or the RCA plugs alone, into the device. Such devices can either be a fairly simple USB box connecting to the computer via USB cable. Or they can be fancier and more expensive boxes which have a built-in chip which allows the conversion from analogue to digital (which is resource-hungry) to be done by the box and not by your computer. These are definitely preferable to the simpler and cheaper boxes. The problem is that with a lot of them, you have to use the software which comes with them to capture, but then you can open the captured video in VS for editing.

Much more expensive still, but much better, are dedicated capture devices which use Firewire to connect to the computer, but which capture in the best quality DV format for standard definition editing. An alternative to these is if you have a digital camcorder (usually a mini DV model) which allows pass-through -- you connect the analogue camera to it then the DV camera to the computer via Firewire and capture in DV format. Many, but by no means all, mini DV cameras allow this. You would need to check the camera manual.

I -- and others here -- also use Sony Digital 8 cameras which can actually play the old 8mm or Hi8 analogue tapes and connect to the computer via Firewire, and you get excellent quality. But again, not all the Digital 8s allow this. Moreover, VS 11 and 12 cannot capture from them or from a mini DV camcorder used as passthrough. We use a small freeware program called WinDV which does an excellent job.
