Time/Date appears in Clips - VideoStudio X2

Post by baronvonawesome »

Hello.

I have been using VideoStudio 9 for years now with my Sony Handycam DCR-DVD805E. I have had no problems with that program.

Since upgrading to VideoStudio Pro X2 - any clips from my camera (previously used or not) added to the software now have the date and time of recording appearing in each clip. Initially I though this was just in the Preview Window, but it appears on the final copy of the video even after rendering into a format. How do I prevent that date/time appearing in any clips.

I cannot find help for this problem hence I am sincerely hoping somebody can help.
Kind Regards,
Greg

Welcome to the forums,

This must be due to a setting in your Camcorder. The only video file type that VS will display the date/time code is DV (avi), AND it only does this in Clip mode Preview. This is not burnt to your final DVD. If your camcorder does have the date/time code set to on, then it is burnt onto the video, and is not separate data, as is the case with DV...

With DVD MovieFactory there is an option to have the date/time code inserted as a subtitle. This then burns that info onto the video. However I don't believe VS has this option.

VS has this option in Quick Scan mode. After quick scan and before inserting the clip to time line, there is an option to put the date. If this option is selected, VS insert the date of the video as a title.

However, I have never seen the option to put the date into the rendered video automatically. In fact I wanted this option at least for some of my clips (for clips in my hard drive, without going into quick scan).

Time/Date appearing in clips

Post by baronvonawesome »

Hi all,

Thank you for all your prompt responses and assistance. Firstly, I think that the date/time did appear on a DVD I burned recently, but what did confuse me was the fact that no settings were changed in my Handycam when I upgraded to X2 Pro.

Secondly, where is this quickscan mode?
Kind Regards,
Greg

The Quick Scan is located in the Capture Step, it's called DV Quick Scan.

Date/Time displayed in clips

Post by baronvonawesome »

Hi Vidoman,

Again, your response time is fantastic! The clips from the Handycam are not captured - they are transfered on to the PC via USB in to a folder. The clips are already segmented according to when you began/stopped recording. E.g. You transfer 20 or 30 clips at a time - not 1 long one needing trimming.

I wish I could send you a picture of the time/date displayed. Would you be willing to give me your email address?

I understand if you are not willing to do so.
Kind Regards,
Greg

Hmmmm... wonder if I can see it because of Admin privileges??? But well before I even became a moderator, I recall seeing an email button for people who had filled in that detail in their profile... But I had better let Ron reply for himself!!!

FWIW, I can also see the email button, and have remembered it always being there even before my moderator privileges.

The email button is only visible if the member has selected it in their profile. Each member can opt to have their email available or not.

Solution!

Post by baronvonawesome »

Hi all,

I found the solution (for future references),

1. Click FILE
2. Scrol to PREFERENCES
3. Click the EDIT tab
4. Under the VIDEO heading, de-activate "Show DVD SubTitle".

This worked for me. Hope it works for others too.
Kind Regards,
Greg
