Post by coachm212 »

I have several video files I have created with video studio and when I play them in windows media player the video is fine but no sound, consequently I am trying to add a video clip to a power point presentation and it to has no sound. Its wierd, when I play the clip in video studio the sound is fine. Any suggestions??

Do you have any other media player, like Media Player Classic, VLC? I've had files not play in WMP, however play fine in the others.

Without knowing more about the video file, I don't know what to suggest...

all the video files are mpg files, the default media player is windows media player, I'm not sure about any other media player. But as I was working with microsoft office power point and added the same type of video file it had no sound as well (i'm assuming powerpt. uses windows media player to play videos added to slideshows)?

Unfortunately, you can have mpeg-1, mpeg-2 and mpeg-4 video. And the two latter in turn can use a variety of audio formats, one or more of which may not necessarily be compatible with WMP... That's why we need to know the properties of the files you are dealing with.

So please right click on one of the files within Video Studio, either in the Window pane or in the timeline, and copy ALL its properties (including the audio) here please.

The audio is Dolby Digital. Most likely you do not have a dolby codec associated with WMP.
One of the other players that Ron mentioned are free and usually come with a dobly decoder that will allow the sound to play.

Use Video Studio to convert the audio to LPCM (assuming Power Point supports LPCM)

Trevor,
How do I convert the audio in video studio?? I looked in the manual and played around with the program but I can't seem to find an audio convert tab.

To convert the audio, instead of using Share>Create Video File, choose Share>Create Sound File. In the Save As dialog, choose Microsoft WAV files, which will be a PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) file.
