How to save custom export profile???????

I need to set up a custom export video/audio profile. I click on 'customize' from the export menu and I'm able to copy then modify a profile. But there is ONLY import/export buttons. If I import it asks for an existing profile to import. If I export it saves the customized profile to a place on disk that I specify. But no matter what I do, when I click click options from the export menu I never see any new items listed, just the out of box installed export types.

How do I customize a profile and have it available for export choice????
