Scanning print media into PI-6 need help to de-screen images

Post by Fritz5 »

I am scanning some old grey scale print-images into PI-6. The screen used for ink-printing of magazines is fairly obvious in my scans. Is there a way to eliminate or minimize this screen pattern in my scans? :?

Your scanner software should have a descreening filter. check the help file for it. If this doesn't help, you can try the 'remove moire'. It may also be possible to use 'flatten uneven area', with the lowpass set to 1 or less and highpass to 0.
Good luck.

You can also rotate the content in the scanner a tiny bit, too.

Also, under Photo Menu > Noise > Remove Moiré.
