DVD Movie Factory 7 Pro (Has anyone bought it?)

Post by jfkeenan »

Hi,

It seems like MF7 pro has been available on the Australia site forever but still no sign of the US version.

Forgive me if I've missed a post, but has anyone actually bought the full version and used it in the US/CA? Is it working?

I'm tempted to buy; anyone offer a reason not to buy it? Other than $.

I have emailed Corel Pre-sales support too. I'll let everyone know what they say.

Sadly Corel has adopted a marketing concept of selling or not, certain versions in various regions. MF7 has not been, and probably will not be offered in the US/Canada region. It is not the only product that falls prey to this discriminatory marketing. PI X3 has been out on the market for about a year now, however the U.K has only been able to get PI 12, AND they will never be able to get PI X3. Corel's marketing rep for the U.K. has basically stated that they no longer are focusing on PI, but instead pushing PSP...

But... I can't find anything anywhere that suggests MF7Pro is anything more than MF6+ with the HD Power Pack add-on.

Can someone cite with authority features that 7 has over 6+HDPP???

Maybe 7Pro in Aus and NZ is merely a simplified (and better!) marketing package of the same program we already have in the U.S. And/or that it's not burdened with North American market rules (e.g. French and Spanish language packaging).

Suggest you go to Corel.com, change to the Australia location (Upper right hand side of site) Then go to the "Movie Factory" page. You will find a "compare versions" link just below the tabs for Standard & Pro. The comparision that pops up shows several features that are available in version 7, your call as to whether or not its worth your dollars.
If one buys the Australian version of the software I understand that it works fine on a US based system with US base video standards, hypothetically speaking
MSP 7/8 | VS 8/11.5 | DVD MF 2/3.5/4/7 Pro | VGL 1 | PI-X3 | Painter Essentials 3 | Audacity | Pinnacle Studio DV/7/8/10 | Adobe CS2, PS, PE, AE | PhotoDex Producer 9.0 | ACDSee 9 | Nikon S8100 |

Thanks, but I couldn't get any of the full images to load (beyond the thumbnails). And the Matrix of features on their web page is all "marketing-speak" i.e. I have no clue what the features do or whether they're worth trying to acquire.

I guess we will have to hope that someone who is familiar with MF6+ w/HD pack gets 7 and tells us exactly whether it's worth buying.

It appears that Corel and Ulead are no longer marketing MF DVD anywhere.

The only way I could find anything on v7 is to do a search and the links on the page do nothing.

Even v6 is no longer listed under All Products on US or Australia sites. Only the Ulead site lists v6.

DVD Movie factory 7 beta testing ordeal

Post by Mysteron321 »

It`s a messy situation, folks. I ain`t gonna buy DVD MF 7, until it is
officially released worldwide by Corel. And I will certainly stick with
PhotoImpact 12, until and unless Paint Shop Pro`s next version
clearly supports the .UFO (AND allows us to build DVD and Blu-ray
menus, much like the lucky users of Photoshop can - which suppo-
sedly Paint Shop Pro competes with). Now, I shouldn`t think this is
too much to ask for... 8)
Good guys always win

The Buy Now button seems to work. I tried it, and was taken to the check out page..

Buy Now may work, but none of the other buttons work. You can't compare products, click on Pro vs. standard, or get any details.

Neither v6 or 7 is listed under All Products on Corels site. v7 is not listed on Uleads site.

I'm getting the feeling this product will end up like MSP8.

Yes I find the same, and also have that feeling. However we can only wait to see if they do scrap it or keep it going.
