I am looking for some guidance on an audio problem I am having. I have searched the forums but it only produced one response that was close but not close enough.

Firstly I am not well versed in audio manipulation but I recorded a voice over for a friend using a video camera with videomic - loaded the video file into the timeline, then I split the video/audio. The audio (before as well as after split) is very bass heavy and consequently fuzzy. It appears to have been recorded and shows in project preferences as MPEG2 - I have changed it to LCPM and there is some improvement but still quite high on the bass.

Is there a component of either the surround sound feature or anywhere else in VS Pro X2 that permits you to alter bass and treble levels when the audio is embedded in the video track?

Many thanks

Unfortunately, the answer is no. The audio editing part of VS has always been one of its weakest points. You would need to use third party software to achieve your goal. Corel sought to offset this weakness in the product by including Steinberg WaveLab 6 with the Ultimate version of X2. Otherwise, if you have the Nero or Roxio suite, they contain audio editing programs which are more than sufficient for your needs. Or you can download the freeware Audacity program from the Sound Forge website or elsewhere. I have only recently downloaded this one for another purpose, but find it an excellent, comprehensive and very easy to use program!

By the way, your audio format is not actually mpeg-2. In technical terms it is mpeg-1 layer 2! It is more commonly referred to as mpeg layer 2, and is, with Dolby, one of the usual compressed formats used on DVDs, apart from LPCM.
