Once again I am hoping to upgrade my VS7 which I have used since 2003 to the newest version, Pro X2.
My question is, should I get the complete box version or the boxed upgrade?
I'm afraid the 2 versions are so different that they will have problems meshing. The complete box version of Pro X2 is on sale, plus there is an additional 10% off offer which would make the full version more affordable. I would like to make my purchase before the new offer expires.
Like I said a year ago, I would never upgrade without the safety net of this forum. You guys ROCK!

As far as I am aware, the full boxed version and the upgrade version are one and the same -- just achieved via a different ordering route. With the upgrade version, you have to enter a previous program serial number, and it has to be from a version that warrants an upgrade. I am assuming that VS 7 is such a version.
But it does NOT install over VS 7, and again as far as I am aware, does not use any of the files of VS 7, though there may in fact be some shared files -- with the X2 ones taking over.
In fact, once you install, you will still have, and be able to use, VS 7. A number of us here have various versions of VS all operating quite well on the same computer. I too started with VS 7, and on one computer, I have VS 7, 8, 9 and 10+ all operating independently of each other and working fine. Versions 8, 9 and 10 were all upgrades of VS 7. On this current computer, I have VS 10+, 11.5+ and X2, though no earlier versions since I am running Vista on this one, and the ones earlier than VS 10 (as patched for Vista) will not work with Vista.
So no worries!!
And welcome back to the forums!!
