Alludo USER to USER Web Board

I downloaded the update patch for VS X2, but when I try to install it, I get a message telling me that the Installer cannot find Video Studio on my computer. If I start VS12 and try to load the patch, it tells me that I must close the program to install the update.
The program is located in the default dir. - "c:\Program Files\Corel\Corel Video Studio12\, and the patch .exe is in the same dir.
I have tried everything I can think of to load the patch, including startingWindows in Safe Mode.
My VS version is 12.0.98.0 Pro
Nothing seems to work to install this patch.
Does anyone have a solution, please

Are you perhaps trying to install the patch to a trial version? If so, patches do not install to trials, or SE versions.

You might have a faulty download.
There is nothing mystical about installing it, you can download it to anywhere convenient on your hard drive - I keep a set up discs folder on a different hard drive to my installed programs and simply ran the update patch from there. Installed perfectly in about 20 seconds.
