QuickTime Versions for VS9/VS12

Post by Black Lab »

Below is a reminder of the Private Messages/Emails Policy of the Forum:
Whilst the Administrators, Moderators, Senior Members and Advisors of the forum are only too willing to help and assist, I must stress that this is not the best method of securing our assistance.

If we choose to reply on an individual basis then
a) We are replying to ONE user and only that ONE user will gain the benefit of our knowledge and experience whilst their may be other members of this forum who also have this same issue and would have benefited from the response.
b) Even the Moderators and Senior members of this forum are not experts in ALL aspects of a wide range of Ulead Products ranging from Video Editing with VideoStudio, MovieFactory and MediaStudio to non Video Products like PhotoImpact, GIF Animator, PhotoExplorer and the like.
There are also other highly specialised programs such as Cool 3D Production Studio and Video Graphics Lab.

Some Users have a little knowledge about a lot, Other users have a lot of knowledge about a little. It is in YOUR interests to post these queries in the open forum so that
1. Others gain the benefit of responses given.
2. YOU gain the benefit of a wider number of users who have this knowledge.

This is not meant as a rant, only as a reminder of the best means for all of us to help each other. I receive at least a dozen such requests on a daily basis. I am in full time employment and to respond to these requests on an individual basis is very time consuming, time which I do not always have.
With that said, below is a PM I received that should air in the open forum, as it could be useful to others:
I like your answers you post..so wanted to ask you without bothering the rest of the forum, cause some of the other moderator -adminstrators seem to be a little on the grumpy side

I have vs12 plus installed and wanted to install vs9. But in installing VS9 it gave me a message that a newer version of quicktime is installed and that it would have to be removed to continue with the old quicktime version.

The reason I want to try the old VS9 is that I am submitting tv programs in MPG format to a local public education government channel. His server accepts the MPG program and it plays on Real Player correctly. But, when it goes into a converter box that changes the program to FIOS, more often than none, the audio is gone when shown on the tv channel. So there is a problem with the FIOS converter box and its software program of recognizing all the time the audio codec of my vs12plus edited programs.

I would appreciate any comments or insight you may have on this matter.
If you think this subject is worthy of the forum, please feel free to post it,
including my comments of the grumpy old men moderators..Wink

I don't think QuickTime is the problem with the audio codec, if that is your question. If you are just concerned about QT being replaced with an older version, after v9 is installed you can then update your QT.

I guess I'm one of the grumpy ones now.

Steve and Ken must have been having a bad hair day...

I've also re-installed VS9 recently, and of course that message popped up. However I just ignored it, and VS9 seems to be functioning fine. I rarely will use QT for videos. If I recall correctly this could also affect SmartSound, however it did not in my case..
