Do you find it annoying when Video Studio resets the timeline display to the origin every time you press Mark-In or Mark-Out on a clip in the Library?

Poll: Resetting Timeline When Mark-In, Mark-Out are Clicked

Post by jchunter »

This Poll is to see how many Users find it annoying or time-wasting when Video Studio resets the timeline display to the origin when you press Mark-In or Mark-Out when previewing a clip in the Library?

Background:
I am midway through what will be a 50 minute video. I have each of my raw capture files in the library. I am using Save Trimmed Video (STV) to create the good clips by breaking them at the blooper points. After each STV, I insert the new clip at the END of the timeline.

Now, my project is so long that the END of the timeline display is FAR removed from the origin. But, every *&%^# time I press Mark-In and Mark-Out on the preview window to set the begin/end boundaries for STV, !*#@* VS9, resets the timeline to the origin and I have to manually put it back where it belongs - at the END, where the next clip goes!

Hi John

I have not use STV that much, but this posting gave me a chance to have a go.
At first I had no problems, I was positioning the curser then hitting the mark in / out.

Everything seemed to work ok. I realised I was taking a short cut and not playing the clip to find the exact cut position.(which you would do in real editing)
Once I played the clip then pressed Mark-In the timeline did in fact disappear somewhere to the left.

Most annoying.

I found by changing to Storyboard View the timeline seemed to stay in place leaving the right hand clip position visible.

Give it a go and change to Storyboard.

Trevor,
Thank you for that workaround. I had gotten used to working with the timeline and had not tried the story board.
John

IMHO, it still needs to be fixed.
