It works perfectly! Absolutely no glitches at all and the video is clean. Yesterday, I shot some video of blossoms and plants at the National Arboretum in Washington, DC, and posted it on YouTube. Here it is:

All the video is from a Canon Vixia HF11 and it was all done at 1080i resolution. There are no glitches in the finished product at all.

By the way, the music is all by the Smart-Sound automated music generator that comes with VS4. (VS2 and VS3 have something similar.) That's me doing a brief voice-over near the beginning.

Yeah, I had to buy VS4 to get glitch-free transitions, but it's good to know that it works.

I dunno if its got anything to do with my computer, but to me when the above video contains panning or zooming I observe some stop stills or how do I say this? perhaps stuttering?

Nice video..

Update.. I just watched the video on another puter and the stutter was not evident..

The video definitely looks better in its original format. Loading it to YouTube adds some artifacts, but at least we have a place to which we can load videos.

"1080i" is much the same as "HD 720p" So, If your Camcorder is able to  - How about recording in 1080P to experience even better High Definition by your camcorder, mind you, you will need to Pan and Zoom with a little more due care, and use more file space as Progressive capture has some quirky drawbacks when using anything less than semi pro equipment :) ..

Be prepared to be amazed, nay astounded! At the difference, that is if your Canon camcorder comes with a good Cmos Chip-set :D ..

Cheers..

END OF THE AVCHD TRANSITION BLIPS STORY

This issue identified in VS X2 has been experienced by many of us. I personnaly worked hard and spent time to document and report it to the Corel support team since the end of 2010. This is clearly a product defect that can be described by a duplication of frames when rendering a AVCHD project ; a frequent instance is a duplication of the last 2 frames of a clip that created the blips or jerky effect that is unacceptable on a quality video standpoint.
According to some users, this problem still exists in VS X3.
I was asked by a Corel support rep to test VS X4 : not only the blips problem no longer occurs but the rendering process is also faster ; I don't know whether other users still experience the blips problem but for me, Corel has fixed it in the VS X4 version.

Now the technical aspects are solved, a customer service issue pops up : Corel has decided not to release a patch for the previous versions and has asked me to buy VS X4 at the normal price ; the only commercial gesture was to offer me a free delivery of the box package ; this decision was made by the person in charge of the European Videostudio sales !
I may understand that Corel does not want to spend time on a patch for X2 or X3 but I cannot accept to be forced to buy the "good" version at the full price. I would have expected a special discount of 50% at least since the upgrade to X4 is the only solution to solve the blips product defect.
The Corel support statement mentions that the n-1 and n version are supported ; when I reported the case in December 2010, VS X2 was the n-1 version. In addition, in the Corel warranty statement, it is specified that Corel will do its best efforts to fix a product defect regardless of the version.

As a former Customer Service manager, I am shocked by such a lack of customer care and I have decided to stop using VideoStudio and other Corel products. I have selected Power Director 9 Ultra 64 of Cyberlink which outperforms VS X4 in many functionalities. And 2 of my relatives are following me.

Consequently, Corel has just lost 3 customers stupidely.

A company that is not customer oriented has no future.

ps : Ron, you may report this story to Corel if you know a Corel executive who cares about his customers.

FWIW, I bought VS4 and like how it works. I have experienced no blips and have done quite a bit of editing, most of it AVCHD-to-AVCHD. Even better, so far VS4 is rock solid with the quirky cell phone video that I regularly use. I can't say the same for VS3, which I have at work. When projects with cell phone video crash on VS3 at work, I bring them home to complete on VS4.

VS4 is not perfect, but I no longer worry about blips. I can understand if some people walk away because Corel refuses to fix earlier versions (especially when those versions were promoted as being capable of AVCHD-to-AVCHD editing), but I will not throw away all the learning I've done on VideoStudio over 80 bucks. It would be too painful to get where I am today that $80 seems like a small expense for a better version. That's just my take... I completely understand if others see things differently.
