I've never heard of him (or is it "her" ?) either.
If making 3D Video was "easy" don't you think the film industry would do it most (if not all) the time? - the only time I have thought that a 3D video was any good was in an Imax Theatre.

I can remember when ordinary cinemas in the UK were showing 3D films. That was about 1952/3. You had to wear the special red and green glasses and it was, as I recall very effective. I think it fell out of fashion when so many people forgot to take the glasses off when they left the cinema and started getting run over by the old "trolley buses" we had in London at the time. They were electric and very quiet so you couldn't hear them coming

I was in China in 2007 and at one of the major airports there were 3D monitors on the walls showing promo movies and you did not need special glasses to get the FULL effect. New technology which I have never seen anywhere else since. I could not believe how good it looked but do we really want 3D TV?

If you didn't have to wear the red/blue spectacles I doubt it was 3D but more likely it was filmed by using the techniques adopted by DSLR photographers - Depth of Field. Using Depth of Field you make something stand out from a blurred background, Perhaps this is far more effective with HD Video than Standard Definition Video.

Whilst this picture (Click it for a larger image) is not in any way 3D - It is something I shot earlier tonight but serves to illustrate my point. Obviously what you saw was something a bit more subtle than this.
