VS 11.5 won't install

Post by SteveT »

Hi - this is my first post.

I am trying to install VS 11.5 but when setup gets to the registering of filters it tells me that DVSP.AX, DIBOUTPUT.AX, DIBRECEIVE.AX and MCUTLIST.AX registration has failed. Then once set up has completed and I try to run VS it says that it cannot run because the application configuration is incorrect.

Would this perhaps be related to the fact that I have Nero v6 already on my system, causing conflicts? Or is there any other reason?

Many thanks

OS= Win XP Home. Video= ATI Radeon X300.

Welcome to the forums,

All those files are suppose to be installed to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems folder. Try doing a complete un-install/re-install. Ulead programs leave a lot of files behind. So just doing a simple add/remove programs from the control panel and then re-installing may not correct some issues. Instructions can be found here : Re-installation of Ulead Products.

Do you have any other VS versions, or DVD MF installed? If so they will also use those "common files". It should not harm them by reinstalling them. To do this move the Ulead Systems folder, found under the Common Files folder, to some other place on your system (or just delete it). After you have completed the steps outlined in the clean uninstall, try reinstalling VS. You might make sure that any antivirus, spyware programs are temporarily disabled while installing.

Nero certainly does not conflict with VS, especially in this manner. Several users have and use various aspects of Nero along with VS.

However do you have any codec packs such as Klite, installed? If so these generally will cause more problems than they are worth. They not only will conflict with other codecs contained in the codec pack, but will also conflict with any codecs you already have installed. So if so uninstall/remove any codec/mega-codec packs.

Are you running XP Home, SP-1, SP-2, or SP-3? You should have at least SP-2 in order to run VS11. Finally go HERE and download the latest MS Direct-X drivers. The most current is dated March 2009. It is not included with any MS auto updates, and must be manually downloaded and installed. It seems to fix problems that VS will have, that are quite possibly caused by auto updates..;)
