Jerky wmv

Post by durf786 »

Hello. I created a DVD from some wmv files with Video Studio 8. The output is mostly okay, but there is a slight jerkiness in the video - a brief hitch about once every 5 seconds. Does anyone know why that's happening and how I can fix it? (The wmv files don't have the jerkiness.) Thank you.

It's impossible to tell, since you gave no details of the file's properties or how you are playing the DVD.

But if the framerates don't match, it may not be possible to create a perfectly smooth playing video through simple transcoding. If you are playing the file on a computer instead of a standalone device, it is also possible that a process running in the background (AV scan, spyware, Windows 2000/XP Disk Indexing Service, even Task Manager) is briefly consuming enough CPU time to affect playback.

It's not a problem with playback. The project template properties are:

NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
MPEG files
24 Bits, 720x480, 29.97 fps
Lower Field First
(DVD-NTSC), 4:3
Video data rate: 6000 kpbs
LPCM Audio, 48 KHz, Stereo

Is that useful?

Thanks

How do you know it's not a problem with playback? How do you view the DVD? What are the properties of the source files you used to create the output file?

After carefully reviewing the original wmv files, I now see the same hitchiness in them - I'd just never noticed it before! My apologies, and thanks for the help.
