Can anyone who owns a JVC GZ-HD40 please advise if it works with VSX2 using the MPEG2 format (ie X2 can read/import/work with the MPEG2 files out of the HD40)?

I don't recall any issues specific to your cam, and I have never heard of VS having any problems with MPEG-2.

RickMen -- there was no need to start another thread on the camera you and I have been discussing in another thread. But for Black Lab's benefit, I should mention that the mpeg-2 he is talking about is 1920 x 1080 high definition video, but is not HDV but one of JVC's own proprietary formats -- .tod I think. (The camera can also film in AVCHD format and can also be made to output in HDV 1440 x 1080 mpeg-2 format.)

I suggested in that other thread that the 1920 x 1080 mpeg-2 might need to be edited with the tweaked version of Cyberlink's Power Producer 2.0 which comes with the camera. So now RickMen wants to know if VS can also handle it. Certainly VS has been able to handle earlier versions of JVC's .mod and .tod formats, but I simply don't know if it can handle this one as well. It can of course handle HDV with no problem.

Dear Mr/ Ms meneguzzo,

Thank you very much for your e-mail.

As far as I can research from our database, these are the only ones mentioned.

JVC GZ-HD30
JVC GZ-HD40

Hence I cannot guarantee with regard to the camcorder you desire.
Nevertheless, I believe these devices always come with their own software suites that allow you to convert their files into universally readable formats.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for any further questions.

Kind regards,
Jeremy
