Poor quality photos

Post by Doug Sundquist »

I'm using VS11 and inserting photos in an overlay track. I'm simply using the default size and the pictures are jpegs, some of which have been cropped in Picasa. I'm using effects like having the pictures slide in for an entrance effect. Many of the pictures are appearing very grainy in the final rendered video. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Doug :(

I'm not a vs user, so don't know what size is the default size.

What are you viewing your movie on?

A tv? In which case pictures would really need to be 720x480/576 sized or appropriate HD sizes if you have an hd tv.

On your pc screen, then they'd need to match that resolution, a 720x480 picture enlarged to 1920x1200.

Cropping in picassa may lead to a drop in resoluton size, depending on how you do it.
