Poor AVCHD editing performance in VS X2 Pro. My observations

As the link above from JohnDale shows I have used batch convert and Upshift. Although Upshift allows variable GOP and bit rate I didn't know what GOP is. Vidoman kindly gave me some links that described GOP but I didn't really understand what GOP is for and why I would want to vary it.

Has anybody else used both and noticed any difference. I didn't, but maybe I'm not discerning enough or my monitor is not of sufficient quality to show the difference. So I'm wondering if it is worth spending the money on Upshift.

Any thoughts
