I am trying to capture a DVD made by students in my class. Can you capture directly from a DVD using VS 8? I can capture using Movie Factory but it will not take the Dolby Audio. So, no audio.

UVS 7 and later will import / capture non-CSS encoded DVD video and audio. UVS 7 can't handle AC-3 Dolby Digital in any form, UVS 8 requires the AC-3 Powerpack Plug-In, and UVS 9 includes AC-3 support.
Given the relatively small difference between the cost of the plugin and the cost of a UVS 9 upgrade, your best bet would be to upgrade to UVS 9.
